UNITY (United Native Indian Tribal Youth) Conference in Buffalo, New York. Six (6) of our students represented the Gila River Indian Community at this international conference. |

Nation Building Conference in Scottsdale, Arizona. Three (3) students represented Vechij Himdag Alternative School Inc. and the Gila River Indian Community. |
| September 2006 |
Students enrolled in Journalism demonstrated school & community pride by renovating and redecorating a room, converting it to a journalism classroom with a mural reflecting Gila River Indian Community heritage. |
| October 17-18, 2006 |
Members of the Leadership 500 class attended Hospitality Training at the Sheraton Wild Horse Pass Spa & Resort. Students received orientation to the many career
opportunities available to tribal youth in the hospitality industry. |
| October 26, 2006 |
Gila River Indian Community’s Governor & Lieutenant Governor visited
campus. Students in Leadership 400 & 500 classes prepared and served a formal luncheon to welcome our community leaders and give them a tour of our school. |
| November 4, 2006 |
Nine (9) students recognized the elders of our community for
Elder’s Day. There students began planning with elders for for Water Rights Day and Art for the Sky. |
| November 6, 2006 |
Talent Affairs Art Show at the Wild Horse Pass Spa & Resort. Students from Leadership 400 & 500 served a docents and greeters for this event. Several students also entered the art competition & won several awards. |

Voting Day. A group of students and staff cooked & served lunch
to the community at District 3 Service Center, where people came to vote. |

Five Diamond Award Celebration at the Sheraton Wild Horse Pass Spa & Resort. Several students attended the Kai Restaurant in Becoming a Five Diamond Restaurant. |
| December 8, 2006 |
Students and staff of Vechij Himdag Alternative School Inc. provided
Programming for Water Rights Day. We brought in Daniel Dancer who designs art to be seen from the sky – much like ancient Indigenous people did in Central & South America. Community leaders, elders, and students & staff from Blackwater Community School joined us in making the
Art for the Sky. Students from the Leadership classes were the organizers of the project. |
| December 2006 |
The Leadership 400 class adopted three (3) teenagers through Tribal Social Services. Through fundraisers and contributions from staff they raised $500 and were able to buy everything on the wish lists: bicycles, jackets, MP3 players, and more. To prepare for fundraising students had to qualify as food
handlers. |
| April-May, 2007 |
Several students applied for jobs at Sheraton Wild Horse Pass Resort & Spa, and began orientation in preparation for
summer employment. |
| May 4, 2007 |
Eight (8) students from Vechij Himdag Alternative School Inc. were
winners of various honors at this year’s Governor Scholar Awards. |
| June 5, 2007 |
Vechij Himdag Alternative School Inc. holds its 2007 Graduation Ceremony. |
